Zookeeper

When they’ve bedded down for the night
And all is still while the full moon shines
The keeper does her duty
Station to station task to task
With only soft sighs for company
She watches her charges sleep
Dreaming of happy days ahead
When they roar with life
Knowing without knowing
How well they were kept
Before being set free to roam the Earth
